The love we left behind

These days,

We are work-rushed

And busy and angry

And afraid to be sitting

For more than a moment.

For why should we be missing?

In our friendships and love

And accept that time moves

Sorely past us.

Tiredly breathing against

The emptiness of old words

For life they once had

swells beneath, unheard;

In this little space

Which used to exist,

Where smiles form

At the softness of a kiss.
